Beginning Invisalign Treatment in Anaheim Hills
Once your clear, BPA-free, smooth plastic aligners have come in, you’ll return to Dr. Desai to begin your treatment. The Smile Brite Dental team will provide you with instructions for wearing and caring for your alignment trays. Best practices include:
- Wearing your Invisalign aligners at least 20-22 hours per day
- Removing trays when eating or drinking colored beverages (sipping water is fine)
- Cleaning your trays (Invisalign solution, brushing, soaks)
- Managing any discomfort with over-the-counter pain medications
- Practicing excellent oral hygiene during treatment
Unlike treatment with metal braces, which require multiple trips to the orthodontist, with Invisalign you’ll only need to see Dr. Desai every 4-6 weeks. This is to ensure that your teeth are aligning properly.
Nearly all patients complete Invisalign treatment within two years. Many complete Invisalign treatment within 12-18 months. You will need to wear a retainer after treatment to maintain the alignment of your teeth. Dr. Desai will tell you how often you need to wear it, and for how long you should plan to wear it. During your Invisalign treatment you should continue to see Dr. Desai every six months for regular cleanings.
